Speakers, Meetings & Events for 2025

Unless otherwise noted, meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7:PM At Knox Presbyterian Church Hall, 29 High Street, Vankleek Hill, ON

March 15th
  • Seed Exchange at the VKH Creating Center. 13- ON 34, VKH
  • We will be there to hand out free seeds & gardening advice
March 20th
  • In house meeting – Knox Presbyterian Church
  • A panel of small local farms who will share their experience and lessons learned with a Q& A to follow.
  • Local products will be available to purchase.
  • An Informal Seed Exchange will be held afterwards
April 12th
  • D1 AGM – Saturday 8:30-3:30 Breakfast & Lunch included $40.00
  • WB George Centre, Kemptville Campus
  • 48 Shearer St. Kemptville, ON.
  • Registration Deadline March 20th - Theme is Flower Power
April 17th
  • in house meeting – At Knox Presbyterian Church Hall
  • Speaker will be Binky Holleran of Flora Kitchenette on Edible Flowers
May 15th
  • in house meeting – Knox Presbyterian Church Hall
  • Speaker will be Jacob Vogel of Fields of Gold
  • Flower & Photo competition
May 17th
  • Plant Sale – Saturday 9 AM to Noon, 38 Main Street, VKH
  • A popular & timely sale at very reasonable prices for indoor & outdoor plants, seedlings, vegetables, pots, garden tools, and new this year - tool sharpening.
June 21st
  • Saturday car-pool to Rideau Woodland Ramble
  • 7210 Burritts Rapids Rd., Merrickville, Ontario
  • Stunning gardens featuring rare & unusual plants & trees.
  • In 2015 they received the designation of Canadian Destination Garden Centre of the Year!
July 5th
  • Garden Tour – visit beautiful gardens around Vankleek Hill.
  • Saturday 10 AM to 4PM
July 19th
  • OHA Convention – via Zoom
July 20th
  • Sunday – Alfred Bog Walk, Alfred ON, rare plant species and varied bird & animal species followed by a visit to nearby M. Quenneville Greenhouses
August 21st
  • Thursday 6:30 PM White Barn Blooms 4501 Pearl Rd. L'Orignal, ON
  • A tour & talk about a small specialty cut flower farm
Sept. 18th
  • Inhouse meeting featuring Isabel Deslauriers speaking on Growing your own food sustainably
  • Flower & Photo competition.
October 16th
  • In house meeting at Knox Church ** AGM ** followed by Richard Giles of Barb Road Gourmet Garlic
Nov. 13th
  • At Knox Church. Our final society meeting of the year.
  • A social gathering featuring turkey dinner with all the trimmings!
  • Competitions with prizes, garden books available, and good fun to be had by all!
